Collection: VanDyke Brown Print
Cyanotype and Van Dyke Brown are both 19th-century photographic processes using UV light and water development but differ in key aspects. Cyanotype employs ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide, producing vivid blue prints with a simple, beginner-friendly process. In contrast, Van Dyke uses silver nitrate, yielding warm brown tones with a vintage feel but requires more care due to its sensitivity and chemical handling. Van Dyke demands high-quality paper for better archival quality. While cyanotypes are bold and graphic, Van Dyke prints are softer and richer in tone, appealing to different artistic styles. FR/NL/UK
